Patrick is the Chair of the Catastrophic Loss & Tort Defense Practice Group. He is an experienced trial lawyer who represents businesses, individuals, and insurance carriers in a wide range of civil litigation matters in both state and federal courts. He regularly litigates high risk catastrophic loss cases involving death, serious bodily injury, or significant property damage in the context of products liability, premises liability, trucking and transportation, construction defects, toxic torts, and explosion and fire loss claims. He also represents clients in a variety of other civil litigation matters, such as cases involving contract disputes, wrongful termination, employment discrimination, defamation, inverse condemnation, and insurance coverage. Patrick also has an active tort defense practice in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

  • Has represented manufacturers and distributors in products liability lawsuits involving a wide array of products, including construction, logging, and mining equipment, aircraft components, pressure vessels and boilers, engines, security systems, fire suppression systems, inflatable amusements, Ferris wheels, electric scooters, whirlpools, power washers, and wheelchairs, among other things.
  • Has represented national and regional trucking firms in defense of personal injury lawsuits, including wrongful death and traumatic brain injury cases.
  • Has represented large construction companies in construction defect claims and accidents involving substantial property damage and bodily injury.
  • Has defended toxic tort claims arising out of alleged exposure to asbestos, talc, "toxic" mold, adhesives, lead, and fogging products.
  • Has represented hotels, international resorts, restaurants, marinas, landfills, and other businesses in defense of premises liability lawsuits arising out of accidents in the Unites States, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and other countries, including Italy, Aruba, Turkey, and Jordan.
  • Has represented major telecommunications company in defense of contract disputes, personal injury lawsuits, and inverse condemnation claims.
  • Has represented employers in wrongful termination and employment discrimination matters.
  • Has represented insurance companies in defense and prosecution of insurance coverage disputes.
  • Has represented medicine manufacturer in multidistrict litigation involving product defect claims.
  • Has represented national railroad in local FELA and crossing matters. 
  • Has represented national airline and national aviation company in aviation law matters filed in Virginia and Washington, D.C.
